Science and Technology. Science City had instituted the Tamilnadu Young Women Scientists
Award and Lifetime Achievement Award for' Women Scientists in the year 2000 and has
been identifying and awarding the prestigious award on deserving women scientists
regularly. These awards are the first of its kind in the. entire state of Tamilnadu and is given
as an honour in recognition of the outstanding research carried out by women scientists in
Tarnilnadu in the- field of Science and Technology under several dlsdplines such as (i)
Agricultural Sciences, (ii) Chemie.al Sciences) (iii) Engineering & Technology, (iv)
Environmental Sciences including Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary SCiences,
(v)Home SCiences, (vi)Life SCiences, (vii)Mathematical SCiences, (viii)Medical Sciences and
Native Medicine, (ix)Physical SCiences, (x) Social Sciences and (xi) Veterinary Sciences.
The award, Tamilnadu Young Women Scientist is awarded to Women SCientists below
the age of 40 years who have carried out exemplary work in anyone of the above said fields. The Tamilnadu Lifetime Achievement Award for women scientists is awarded to
Wcmen Scientist above the age of 60 years. This award will be bestowed on a Women
scientist who has contributed in the field of Science and Technology throughout their career.
The awards carry a cash prize and a citation.
In this regard, nominations are invited from Women Scientists of Tamilnadu for the
"Tamilnadu Young Women Scientists Award - 2013" & "Tamilnadu Lifetime Achievement
Award for Women Scientists - 2013". Award nomination forms can be downloaded from the
Science City website www.sciencecitychennai.in The last date for submission of filled in nomination is 3rd December, 2014.
